Welcome to Turned Logs of Alaska and Thank You for your interest!
Our Logs are milled on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, from dead, dry White Spruce (not green logs). This means they are beetle or fire killed - not kiln dried.
Our Log is a machine lathed smooth round log. It has a Swedish coping the length of the log and saddle notches for the corners of the building. Because our logs are a (smooth finished) log, they require very little sanding before sealing your walls while still exposing all the colors, characteristics and beauty of natural wood. Because they are a lathed turned log they are the same diameter from one end to the other. As the logs are stacked they are trued with a level which results in giving you a wall that is as even inside and out as is possible when using any framing materials. This enables you to hang cabinets, pictures etc. without problem. There is no need to sheetrock or panel the inside of your log wall to hang cabinets.
You will receive random length turned logs for any size building, saddle notches for your corners, and starter course logs. Starter course logs are logs that are ripped to 3/4 and 1/4 logs. By doing this, your bottom logs will sit flat on your floor which eliminates the weight of the log walls crushing the cope of a full bottom log. Also the stacking heights of the logs of opposing walls will be started off correctly.

WALL LOGS - Length up to and including 21'
You can figure your own rough estimate for your building by multiplying the perimeter of the building plus 8' for tails for 4 corners by the above cost per wall ft for the diameter of log you are interested in. This will give you the approximate cost of a solid wall 8' high. You will save some from this cost after deleting some logs for doors and windows, however if you want log gables and/or a second story/dormer etc there would be additional cost involved.
You may be wondering about the financial arrangements. We require a 50% deposit upon order and the balance before departing the millyard. Delivery to and unloading of the logs at your building site is the responsibility of the owner.
Because these logs are adaptable to nearly any plan, you can design your own home, combine several plans that you may really like or use a custom blue print.
