Mission

The Juneau Economic Development Council fosters a healthy and sustainable economic climate in Juneau and throughout Southeast Alaska. In collaboration with other organizations, the council implements initiatives to maintain, expand, and create economic opportunities.

JEDC Leads Southeast Cluster Initiative
The Juneau Economic Development Council, under a contract with the USDA Forest Service, is leading an Economic Development Asset Mapping and Strategic Planning project for Southeast Alaska that focuses on actions to strengthen key industry sectors in our region. We invite you to participate by taking the Southeast Alaska Business Climate Survey.

SpringBoard Partners with New National Festival
JEDC's SpringBoard program was an official partner of the inaugural USA Science & Engineering Festival's Grand Finale Expo, which was held in Washington DC on October 23 and 24. See photos of our booth at the Festival, which included a Mendenhall iceberg.

FIRST® LEGO® League Season is Underway in Juneau
The 2010-2011 FIRST® LEGO® League season got underway in Juneau with a Kickoff Party at JDHS on Wednesday, September 8th. JEDC has also launched a new website to provide information about statewide LEGO robotics teams, activities and tournaments: visit fllalaska.com.

CBJ Establishes Juneau Affordable Housing Fund
After months of collaborative work among the Juneau Affordable Housing Commission, the Juneau Economic Development Council, and the Juneau Homeless Coalition, the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly passed an ordinance on July 19, 2010 to establish the Juneau Affordable Housing Fund with an initial deposit of $400,000.

JEDC Releases Juneau Housing Needs Assessment
With support and funding from the City and Borough of Juneau, JEDC has completed a Juneau Housing Needs Assessment to provide housing data to community groups that are working to respond to housing issues in the capital city.
