Our world-class Kodiak Island hunting and fishing is located in Old Harbor, Alaska, notably one of Alaska's best king salmon and halibut fishing destinations and definitely one of the world's best places to hunt Sitka black-tail deer and sea ducks like king eider. The secret is out!

Sitka Black Tail Deer Kodiak Island has the highest density of Sitka black-tails in the world. The largest bucks on record were taken from this island. Hunters have access to 77,000 acres of private land, a DIY hunters paradise! Seasons and space is limited, reserve yours now: 907-286-2252 or fishunt@kodiakcombos.com

King salmon are troll caught using downriggers, the biggest landed with Kodiak Combos was 75 pounds with many in 45-50 pound range landed every year.

A 300-pound plus halibut was landed from just 50-feet of water in 2008 and one stretching 8-feet long in 1999, with plenty in the 30-90 pound range.

River fishing in August-October is for silvers, dollies, chum, and pink salmon. We boat up-river from the village for 15 minutes in an open jet boat, and clients fish with 8-weight rods or spinning gear. Fishing in all rivers around Old Harbor is catch and release only. You can combine your river fishing with saltwater fishing, a true Kodiak Combo.

Clients have taken mature king eider drakes in December and January. Seaduck hunters take a variety of species from shore using decoys and from a layout blind by UFO. Harlequin, Barrows and Common Goldeneyes, red breasted and common mergansers, and bufflehead, can be taken from shore using decoys. From the layout, you can take all 3 scoters, long-tails, king eider, Pacific eider and greater scaup. Puddlers like mallards, pintails, widgeon, green wing teal, gadwell, and the occasional shoveler can be taken while onshore. Hunters are taken to specific spots for specific species and sometimes moved several times a day. Your guide is your retriever, each group of hunters is given a radio to contact the guide when a bird is down and needs to be retrieved if the hunter cannot reach it.

Your fish and game is handled with care from the time it hits the deck to the time it is vacuum packed and frozen, providing quality fillets and packages of meat for your family to enjoy.
Accommodations are private for Kodiak Combos guests in a newly remodeled waterfront property completed 2010. Amenities include cable TV, full kitchen, private bath, wood stove and Toyotomi heat, laundry facilities, long distance phone access, and twin or queen size beds. Meals can be local cuisine like halibut, salmon or rockfish or whatever your diet requires.

Trips are out of a fully-equipped 26 ft. SeaSport, "The Refuge Rock" set up and tricked out for fishing success in remote Alaskan waters. It has a commercially rated diesel engine "the latest high tech Volvo D4 mated to a Volvo DPH outdrive" professionally installed by Kodiak Diesel in 2008 to take you to the fishing grounds in comfort. The "Refuge Rock" is loaded with all the modern electronics including: VHF marine radio to communicate with other boats and US Coast Guard; Iridium satellite phone to make those important arrangements; GPS electronic chart/plotter to help keep us on course; Radar to show us where other boats are in the fog; color sounder to confirm water depth and fish. The main engine is a reliable diesel. Trim tabs provide a smooth and level ride when the waters get choppy. An inflatable raft with a Yamaha outboard is used to ferry guests to shore and back. The boat has a dinette with seating for 4 and a V-berth with seating for 1 and seating behind the captain's chair for another. An enclosed private toilet is also onboard. If fishing has taken it all out of you, the V-berth is a great place to lay down and rest your back until we call you back on deck for another round of fish fighting! This is a private boat with limited bookings, not a crowded party boat, call to reserve your spot 907-286-2252.
