ackwoods Lodge is located on the Denali Highway in the scenic community of Cantwell. Located 27 miles from Denali National Park Visitor Center, Backwoods Lodge is a quiet retreat away from the crowds and congestion close to the visitors center.

Backwoods lodge is an AAA rated motel catering to guests traveling by automobile.
We recommend a two-night stay in order to take advantage of the bus tours into the park. In addition you can go flightseeing, horseback riding, take a riverboat tour, hiking and fishing, white-water rafting and scenic float trips.
There is always something to do and we are happy to recommend activities to you.
Michael and Kathie White own and operate Backwoods Lodge year-round. In winter visitors snowmachine, ski and snowshoe in the prime recreation area. Snowmobile and flightseeing tours are also available. You can snowmachine right from your front door to the beautiful Broad Pass and Denali Highway areas.
The Backwoods Lodge is an attractive, cedar log-sided building with eleven non-smoking family-sized units which were constructed in the mid 1990s.

All the rooms are at ground level with drive-up parking for easy access. The White's cabin and the lodge are both located on the seven wooded acres they call home. There are hiking trails leading to a quiet pond where you can build a campfire and enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. McKinley and the surrounding mountains.

Backwoods Lodge is the last lodge with a view of Mt. McKinley as you travel north - weather permitting of course!
Wildlife both large and small visit our woods often and the scenery is spectacular so have your camera ready!

Backwoods offers the usual amenities for medium-priced lodging facilities with private bath in the Denali Park area. However, there is a satellite TV and a phone in every room!
Backwoods is unique, because every room has a microwave and small refrigerator for light cooking. There are gas BBQ's on the covered deck for your use as well.

We invite you to visit our local artist's gift shop and take a bit of Alaska with you.

Coffee, tea and hot chocolate plus microwave popcorn are complimentary! We keep a stock of steaks (for BBQing), microwave potatoes, vegetables and desserts on hand should our guests want to do some of their own meals.
Although there is no restaurant at Backwoods, there are two cafes nearby - one within walking distance.

Payment in full at the time of reservation is required. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. For a 100% refund you may cancel up to ten full days prior to your scheduled arrival date. Cancellations less than ten days prior to arrival will receive a 75% refund only if we can resell the space you cancel.
