An estimated 908,000 children are victims of abuse & neglect every year. Whether the abuse is emotional, neglect, physical or sexual the scars can last a lifetime without mental health assistance.
In 2006, there were an estimated 15,000 children with a Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) diagnosis of which only approximately 5,000 were receiving any type of treatment services (DHHS, 2008).
