Chugiak Baptist Church is an Independent, Bible Believing Baptist Church with old fashioned values. We cherish our right to worship in a free country and raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We believe in the separation of the state from the church, but not the Church from the state. God Blessed us with the country and freedoms we have and as a country we should honor Him. The Bible defines our position on issues we face like the sanctity of life and marriage. We worship God who does not change with the times. Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
Chugiak Baptist Church started as a mission work in 1989 under the authority of Badger Road Baptist Church in Fairbanks, Alaska. Pastor Michael Hughes had been pastor of a church in Ardmore, Oklahoma prior to coming to Alaska.
We first met at the home of one of our members while we purchased and then renovated our current building. This property was purchased in the summer of 1990, and we began meeting here in late summer 1991, after working on the building to prepare it for meetings. Chugiak Baptist Church organized into an Independent Baptist Church in October, 1997.
