LEAP - Alternatives to Violence Programs
LEAP is an agency whose focus is helping people whose lives have been affected by abuse.
Violence is typically a learned behavior. We pick it up from those with whom were raised and we pass it on because its what we know. Those of us who have used abuse often are without the skills and knowledge of what else to do when we escalate. As a result we end up hurting the ones we love and ourselves. People can change and do change when they are ready to look honestly at themselves and motivated to make changes where needed.
We define violence and abuse as when one person disempowers another in order to make themselves feel more powerful.
When we use abuse we are responsible for that choice. We are also responsible for learning how to stop abusing.
